Customer demands for e-invoices

SMC Pneumatics has been active in the Finnish market since the 1980’s and is currently an independent subsidiary to the SMC Group. SMC Pneumatics designs and manufactures pneumatic components and custom-made solutions for their clients, enabling automated and cost-efficient manufacturing processes in the industry sector.

SMC Pneumatics started sending e-invoices via Pagero during spring 2014. “We started the digitisationprocess primarily because of an increasing number of client requests. Our clients wanted to receive e-invoices and at the same time we wanted to get rid of the paper invoices”, says Johan Gräsbeck CEO at SMC Pneumatics Finland Oy.

Invoice handling has become much easier

The client base of SMC Pneumatics mainly consists of Finnish industrial companies. Currently, SMC sends over 20,000 invoices per year via Pagero Online, of which 57 % is electronic, 10 % in PDF format and 33 % paper invoices. There is no need for manual handling of the invoices, the invoicing process is run during nighttime, and the outbound invoicing process is therefore fully automated.

“The feedback we have received from our customers has been positive; our solution for outbound invoices is working as it should and invoice handling has become much easier for the end-user”, says Joanna Sirén, Sales Assistant, SMC Pneumatics Finland Oy. “And we’ve noticed the same thing. Reviewing of the invoices takes much less of our time, enabling us to reallocate resources and concentrate on other tasks instead.”

Change for the better in many ways

“In the beginning of the transition to e-invoicing, we were worried about the invoice delivery, since we were not physically handling the invoices ourselves”, Johan Gräsbeck says. “Now we get the confirmation data from the invoice journal produced in our ERP system – and the concern is all gone. The invoice administration has been immensely reduced, and thus much less time consuming. We are also able to make an impact on the environment with our green solutions and further, save thousands of euros on a yearly basis”.

“Pagero stood out in comparison with other operators, not only as very flexible but also from a technical point of view”, Johan Gräsbeck continues. “Pagero is a technically suitable solution for us and the few challenges we faced in the beginning were already solved by the time of implementation. I think that the current operation is very straightforward.”

Efficient co-operation and support

SMC Pneumatic is very pleased with the existing co-operation with Pagero. “We are very satisfied. We always get the help we need from the support and everything is working well”, Joanna Sirén says. “The next step will be to optimize the use of Pageros services even further by digitizing our purchase invoices as well. Based on our experiences we can definitely recommend Pagero to others.”
