In 2021 a new input tax credit method known as the ‘Qualified Invoice System’ was announced for implementation from 1 October 2023 by the Japanese authorities. The system will allow taxpayers to claim Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT) input credit from JCT-registered vendors, with Peppol e-invoicing as the recommended format by the Japan Digital Agency (JDA).
Following the hiring of Yukihiro Ieda earlier in the year, Pagero held an opening seminar in Tokyo, Japan in October to announce its expansion into the Japanese market and commitment to serve customers in Japan.
"Our entry into Japan marks a significant milestone for Pagero. As the Japanese business landscape undergoes a swift digital evolution, notably with the introduction of Peppol, we stand at the forefront, prepared to play a defining role in this digital transition. We see the market’s growing needs and are ready to help both local and international companies as they navigate these upcoming changes”, says Bengt Nilsson, CEO of Pagero.
“There is a surging demand for digital automation solutions in Japan and our strategic entrance is perfectly timed to support both existing and future customers in the market. We look forward to entering the market together with our valued local and global partners”, says Yukihiro Ieda, Country Manager Japan at Pagero.
