Nigeria launches e-invoicing platform
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) launched the e-invoicing platform, the Merchant Buyer Solution (MBS). The launch constitutes vital infrastructure, as it enables taxpayers to issue compliant e-invoices, bringing the country one step closer to realizing the upcoming countrywide mandate.
Nigeria prepares for e-invoicing pilot
As part of the country’s digital transformation, the Nigerian Federal Inland and Revenue Service (FIRS) has proposed implementing electronic invoicing in various transaction types. At this initial stage, a pilot is expected to be launched for the largest taxpayers in the second half of 2025.
Nigeria mandates e-invoicing for imports and exports
On 1 February 2022, The Nigerian government has announced that submitting e-invoices for imports and exports will be mandatory. Suppliers and buyers are required to submit e-invoices to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) dedicated portal for e-invoice validation.
