The Japan Digital Agency (JDA) announced in 2021 a new input tax credit method, known as the Qualified Invoice System, which means to be eligible for Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT) credit, taxpayers must retain qualified invoices.
In an effort to promote the digitalization of Japanese businesses, streamline processes, and encourage sustainable business practices, the JDA strongly recommends the use of e-invoicing as a format for receiving JCT.
